Calling all teaching assistants!

Are you a teaching assistant looking to develop your career? Apply for an apprenticeship today and you could complete the nationally recognised Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools (STALIS) qualification at either Level 2 or Level 3 in your own academy. Training is hands-on and takes place during your normal academy working hours through work-related tasks and activities. You can begin your training at any time throughout the year at a time to suit you, and you can graduate in as little as 12-18 months. The scheme itself is a competence-based qualification which provides comprehensive coverage of the knowledge and skills to support teaching effectively.

  • New to supporting teaching? STALIS Level two is suited to those beginning a role, or relatively new to their teaching assistant role. About STALIS Level 2.
  • Have exisiting experience? STALIS Level three is available for those with more experience and knowledge. About STALIS Level 3.

Train during your normal working hours
How will I study?

You will be assigned an assessor by Sussex Skills Solutions to help manage your training. You will also be assigned a ‘mentor’ who will be your main point of contact.

The assessor will work alongside you and your mentor to identify the additional units that are most suitable to your areas for development and the needs of the academy.

The logistics of how the training will be conducted is discussed with your trainer and tailored to meet the needs of the individual academy and apprentice. This means there will be minimum disruption to your current role whilst ensuring enough support is provided.

How do I apply?

Please complete and submit an expression of interest form to our HR team

Once an expression of interest form is submitted an assessment will then take place to ensure that the academy can support the course.

Sussex Skills Solutions will then approach you through the academy to set up the initial assessments and confirm a date for the apprenticeship to commence.

Please feel free to contact our HR team with any questions you may have.
