Volunteers needed to support schools and their community
12 December 2017
Would you like to make a difference to the quality of education for children and young people?
The University of Brighton Academies Trust is looking for volunteers to join their academy Local Boards in Hastings, St Leonards and Crawley.
Local Board members are an essential link between an academy school and its community. They help make a positive impact on young people’s lives and use their professional and personal skills to help shape the vision of an academy. Alongside elected parents, staff representatives and the academy’s Principal, they work together to ensure that every child reaches their full potential. They also help celebrate success, monitor academy performance and ensure that staff have the resources and support they need to do their job well.
Local board members include a mix of individuals from the local community and the Trust are is particularly interested in hearing from individuals who have experience in:
· primary or secondary education
· fundraising and marketing
· the local community
· local businesses
· volunteering with children or young people
· strategic planning.
Full training and support is also given, providing volunteers with board-level leadership, strategy and team working skills.
Dr John Smith, Chief Executive of the University of Brighton Academies Trust said: “We work collaboratively with our academies and everyone connected to them to achieve excellence. Both the Trust and our academy Principals highly value the role Local Board members play in maintaining links with their local community.”
Applications from interested individuals are requested by Wednesday 28 January 2018.
