New Senior Education Officer appointment

The University of Brighton Academies Trust is delighted to announce that John Smith, currently Executive Principal of The Baird and Hollington primary academies, has been appointed as Senior Education Officer, within the Trust’s School Improvement team, from 1 September 2018.

John has worked in education for over 20 years, including 15 years in senior leadership posts in schools and academies in the Hastings and St Leonards area.

Dr John Smith, Chief Executive of the University of Brighton Academies Trust said: “John is an exceptional education leader, with a long and consistent track record of school improvement in a number of challenging settings. The further strengthening of our school improvement team, in support of Helen Howard (Executive Director of School Improvement), is a key priority in our recently approved Strategic Business Plan 2018-2023, and we are fortunate to have appointed an outstanding colleague for such an important post, who will have much to offer both primary and secondary leaders.”

On his appointment as Senior Education Officer, John Smith said: “I am extremely pleased to have been appointed to this role in the Trust’s school improvement team. I am committed to supporting schools and their leaders to improve outcomes for pupils and look forward to working with colleagues across the Trust and our academies in this new capacity”
