How to apply

Applications for training programmes starting in September 2022 opened on Tuesday 5 October 2021.

APPLY FOR Teacher Training

You will apply online via the national Apply for teacher training website.

You will find the details of all our Secondary School Direct and Postgraduate Teaching Apprenticeship places on the Apply for teacher training website.

If you have a preference for your host academy you can state that at this stage, if not you can select the ‘main site’ option and decide at a later date.

Interview

Once we’ve assessed your application, we’ll let you know whether you’ve been selected to attend an interview in person at the University of Brighton’s Falmer campus.

The interview will include a number of structured activities aimed at allowing you to show your potential.

If your interview at the university is successful, we’ll invite you to attend a further interview at the academy to which you are applying . This will include a pre-planned teaching activity, together with an interview with a member of the academy’s Leadership Team and the appropriate Subject Leader.

Your offer

We will then let you know if you have been successful, and if so, if we are offering you a conditional or unconditional place.

We will help you complete all the pre-employment checks and finalise our decision through the Apply for teacher training website. All offers of places are subject to required regulatory checks including an occupational health check and a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) enhanced check.

Applicants who receive a conditional offer based on the need to improve their subject knowledge can complete a Subject Knowledge Enhancement course.
